The church of St John the Evangelist in Corby Glen is largely Perpendicular work though the north aisle is from the Decorated period.

The building is famous for its medieval wall paintings discovered in 1939.

Kelly's Directory 1919 states :-

"The church of St. John the Evangelist is a large and ancient edifice of stone, in the Decorated style of the 14th century, consisting of chancel, nave, aisles, south porch and an embattled western tower containing 4 bells:

it was restored and reseated in 1860:

there are several stained windows, some of which are memorials :

the church affords 206 sittings.

The register dates from the year 1561.

The living is a discharged vicarage, annexed to the rectory of Irnham, joint net yearly value £500 with residence and 82 acres of glebe, in the gift of Col. Gordon, and held since 1899 by the Rev. Arthur Abbott M.A. of Queen's College, Oxford"

"The CHURCH (St. John the Evangelist) is a large edifice in the decorated style of the 14th century, with a tower and four bells.

In the windows are some remains of ancient stained glass.

The benefice is a vicarage, consolidated with Irnham Rectory in the patronage of W. H. Woodhouse, Esq., and incumbency of the Rev. Chas. Farebrother, B.C.L., who resides at Corby Vicarage, a large Elizabethan mansion, and has 72 acres of glebe"

Bell ringing chamber at the base of the west tower.

"The church has a peal of six bells used for change ringing.

Four of these were cast for the church between 1580 and 1628.

Two others, obtained from St Albans, having been cast in 1935, were hung in 2013.

During the re-hanging a bell that had been added to the peal in 1988 was removed for sale; this bell, the fifth at the time, had come from the St Thomas church at nearby Bassingthorpe.

In 1975 the original timber bellframe was replaced by a steel one.

At that time the bell from the former grammar school was hung to provide a separate Sanctus bell to be rung for church services.

This bell was cast in 1691 at the Stamford foundry of Tobias Norris"

In "Brief Details of Chapels in the Grantham Circuit" Revised August 1998 Colin Sheperdson and Allen Griffin state :- 

i) A Dissenter's Certificate was issued in 1829 and the first chapel built in 1845.

It was sold in 1903, following the opening of the new chapel, and is now a private dwelling standing opposite the present chapel.

ii) The foundation stone of the second chapel, in Station Road, was laid on the 7.8.1902 and the chapel opened on the 8.1.1903.

A Sunday school was added and opened on the 9.1.1936.

The chapel is still in use with a membership of 23"
