Harpswell Hall was built in the early seventeenth century and demolished in the mid-nineteenth. It was an H-shaped building standing a short distance south of Hall Farm.

The site is listed because of the exceptional gardens that can still be traced.

St. Chad's church, Harpswell, has an Anglo-Saxon tower, 13th century nave arcade and a 14th century effigy.

An inscription on the tower records the gift of a clock (no longer present) as a thank-offering for the victory of Culloden in 1746.

Comprising a Service Plot of four rows, it contains the war graves of a Royal Engineers soldier, eighteen British airmen and one Canadian airman, and six non-World War graves.

A former RAF base, RAF Hemswell (formerly known as Harpswell Aerodrome when it was first opened in 1918 by the Royal Flying Corps) adjoins the parish"

Kelly's Directory of Lincolnshire 1919 states

"The church was restored in 1890-91 by the late Sir Thomas Whichcote bart. and on taking down the east wall of the chancel there was found in the basement a large stone slab, 7 feet in length and 22 inches wide, bearing the figure of a priest in vestments, and round the margin an inscription in Norman-French, undated, to John Gere, parson, of Harppeswelle"

Church Guide suggests a date about 1300.

Thomas Whichcote was an ardent Royalist and supporter of the Act of Settlement.

He had a notable memorial stone placed on the tower with an inscription commemorating the erection of a clock in 1746 in memory of the Duke of Cumberland's "victory over the rebels" at Culloden.

The Church Guide states that the current clock is a replacement of the original but again given by the Whichcotes.
