Holy Cross, Kirkby Green, is a small church built in 1848 though the east end may be a reproduction of its medieval predecessor.

There is west gallery and a thirteenth century piscina shaft.

Approach to the church from the north-west.

A simple bell-cote built as an extension to the west wall of the nave and, unusually, the porch at the centre of the same side of the church.

Kelly's Directory of Lincolnshire 1919 states :-

"The church of the Holy Cross, erected in 1848 on the site of the old church, then removed, is a building of stone, in the Early English style, consisting of chancel, nave, small western porch and a turret on the western gable containing one bell:

the communion plate is ancient:

there are 100 sittings.

The register dates from the year 1772"

View from the south.

At first glance the building appears symmetrical, but closer inspection reveals that the bay to the east - the chancel - is narrower than the other three.

Also the window in the south wall of the channel, although in similar Early English style, is shorter than the one in the north wall.

"A List And Brief Details Of Chapels In The Sleaford Circuit Past And Present" prepared by  Colin Shepherdson & Peter Robinson June 1996 states :-

"The Wesley Reform Union had a chapel in that part of Scopwick which was also known as KIRKBY GREEN.

The chapel was opened on the 13.7.1856 in Long Row, more commonly called Bedlam Row, and the last service held on the 23.10.1921.

The chapel was later convened into a wash house for the rest of the Row which was later demolished and the site is now occupied by the Braemer Mobile Home Park"
