The church has a Decorated broach spire and an Early English nave. From the Perpendicular period come the north windows and clerestory.

James Fowler's restoration of 1879 was responsible for the south porch and chancel east wall. There is a notable monument of 1605 to the Armyne family.

Locked with no key-holder information.

Kelly's Directory 1930 states:-

"The church of St. Peter is an ancient building of stone, consisting of chancel, nave, south aisle, south porch and a western tower with broach spire containing 3 bells; the tower was restored in 1897, in commemoration of the Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Victoria:

in 1879 the church was restored, reroofed and reseated and the aisles and chancel repaved, under the superintendence of Mr. James Fowler, architect, of Louth, at a cost of £1,700, of which the Earl of Ancaster, then Lord Aveland, gave £700 and the Earl of Dysart £300:

on the north side of the chancel is a large and handsome tomb to Sir William Armyne bart. of Osgodby, ob. 1651, and Mary (Talbot), his second wife:

the silver communion plate is ancient, and was the gift of the Armyne family:

the east window is a memorial to the Rev. Thomas Heathcote M.A. vicar here 1835-83:

in 1895 a reredos was placed in the chancel:

there are 200 sittings"

White's Directory 1872 reports :-

"The Church (St. Peter) is a neat structure, which consists of nave, chancel and western tower, crowned by a spire and containing three bells.

The vicarage of Lavington-cum-Hanby, valued in K.B. at £14. 7s., and now at £700, is endowed with the rectorial tithes of Hanby, and is in the incumbency of the Rev. Thomas Heathcote, M.A"

This appears to be a temporary replacement for the main altar? No trace of the reredos given Rev. Edward Bradley in 1887 to celebrate Queen Victoria's jubilee.

"Edward Bradley (25 March 1827 – 12 December 1889) was an English clergyman and novelist.

He was born in Kidderminster and educated at Durham University from which he took his pen name Cuthbert Bede.

His most popular book was The Adventures of Mr. Verdant Green, on the experiences of an Oxford undergraduate. There was a sequel, Little Mr Bouncer and his friend Verdant Green. Tales of College Life (often bound with it), introduces the character of Mr Affable Canary. The celebrated illustrations to the Verdant Green books were the work of the author"

The Host of Angels Experience, designed by Roger and Liz Heaton, was a millennium project to raise money for church restoration.

Originally planned just for the year 2000 the exhibition was extended and subsequently went on tour helping several other churches to raise funds

In 2010 the Host of Angels Experience returned to Lenton with additional angels having been added.
