The tower of St Peter's church dates from the early seventeenth century.

Postcard published by the Photochrom Co., Ltd., London and Detroit, U.S.A.. Has "Aug 1909" written on the back.

Kelly's Directory 1930 states "The church of St. Peter, originally founded in 1231, and rebuilt in 1842, at a cost of £800, is a structure of brick, in the Early English style, consisting of chancel and nave, west porch and an embattled western tower of red brick, with four pinnacles and containing 3 bells :

in 1904 a memorial window was placed in the south aisle to the Rev. Henry Owen B.A. rector of this parish 1859-87 :

there is also a window inserted in 1911 by the present rector to his wife and another one inserted in 1916:

in the porch is a stone with an inscription asking the prayers of the faithful on behalf of Richard Wright, who built the porch in 1522, his wife and family :

the tower bears the date 1606"

The doorway in the west face of the tower is 'debased Gothic' according to Pevsner.

The tower is one of very few Lincolnshire church constructions of this early seventeenth century period.

This eight-storey mill, by Saunderson of Louth, was one of the last to be built in the county (1882).

It was fitted out with machinery from a demolished mill in Hull.

In 1937 the mill tower was reduced in height and it was converted into a dwelling.

"It was erected to replace a post mill in 1880-81 and originally stood at Newland, near Hull.

Mr Charles Foster bought it, demolished it and shipped everything but the bricks around to Mablethorpe where it was incorporated into a new tower.

The post mill was demolished and replaced in 1901 when a new tower mill replaced it.

The new tower mill lasted until 1935 and was then converted to a house, being only three storeys high by this time"
