St Mary's has a tall Perpendicular west tower, surmounted by a beautiful octagon and spire.

The grand clerestoried nave is tall and spacious with six-bay 14th century arcades and above, a tall, rustic-looking timber roof.

The chancel screen is 15th century.

This view of St Mary's Church, Swineshead dates form the Edwardian period.

The former A17 is narrow and quiet; wellspaced young trees do not obscure the view of the church.

Swineshead is a large village 7 miles west of Boston.

Substantial earthworks may have been the site of a twelfth-century castle.

Swineshead Abbey was founded in 1135 as a Savigniac monastery, converted to Cistercian rule in 1147 and was dissolved in 1536.

This view also shows the base of a medieval market cross.
